Four Reasons to Go PHI MU
Maybe you have it all figured out, maybe not. In either case you'll need friends to help you along the way. Girlfriends. Sisters. Friends who are committed to you through a lifetime of ups and downs. Friends who will help you grow as a person and as a leader. Friends who will be there when you realize that you really don't have it all figured out. Friends who will need you to be there for them, too. You know the type. They are the girlfriends who demonstrate that BFF sort of connection with you. They are there to build you up and to be by your side as you build up others. They have a special sort of energy about them. They are vibrant. And they're looking forward to friending you at Phi Mu.
to make friends
You’ve made friends before and you’ll make new ones here. These new friendships will prove to be some of the most valued relationships of your life and some of the best connections you’ll make toward your future.
Phi Mu offers lifetime friendship among women who will become like sisters to you. We pursue a bright future together. From your first days as a Phi Mu in our Big Sis/Little Sis program through the years after college as part of an alumnae chapter in the city where you work and live – you’ll remain connected just as tens of thousands of other Phi Mu women have for over 165 years.
With collegiate chapters on nearly 120 campuses and hundreds of alumnae chapters for members after college, you’re likely to continue making Phi Mu friends for the rest of your life, wherever you go.
to be the best you
Whoever said that there is no place like home must not have been a Phi Mu. We’ll be a home away from home during your collegiate years. In fact, our chapter houses provide a place to stay for thousands of women on campuses nationwide. Our chapters are a place where a strong value system is established among young women with high ideals. Like at home, we’ve developed traditions that we enjoy in a socially responsible manner.
Our accountability programs ensure consistent and specific “right behaviors” including a strong anti-hazing policy and chapter-led programs relating to social issues. Then, as you prepare to leave the campus and pursue your future, our Senior Experience program is designed specifically to ease your transition to the professional world, the pursuit of an advanced degree, running a household or simply getting started on your own. We’re never far away. You’re our sister. You remain our friend.
for an opportunity to lead
It’s amazing what friends can do to change the world in which they live. In 1852, three young ladies dreamed of creating a place where women could share friendship, build one another up, serve their community, and get the most of their collegiate experience. These friends created our sorority. And, through their commitment to one another and the development of other leaders along the way, it has lasted well beyond their lifetimes. You can be part of our continuing tradition and develop the skills necessary to make your own dreams come true.
As a matter of fact, there are several leadership opportunities within each chapter and on your campus. It’s a chance to put your skills to work with others. We train over 1,000 of our most promising leaders every year and have over 125 alumnae leading as national and area officers. These skills are transferable into your community and have inspired many civic-minded Phi Mu’s to visit Capitol Hill every year to lobby for the interests of Greek organizations.
because you love to help others
You’ve learned lessons and want to build on those toward your goals. You’ve been loved and cared for, so now you want to give back. Phi Mu provides a venue through which women like you can contribute to society and make a difference in their communities. We have a long tradition of charitable and service efforts. We do more than simply promote the idea of volunteerism, we enable your desire to lend a helping hand.
It’s women like you who help us raise and contribute over $500,000 annually to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Women who provide relief for victims of natural disasters through our Heart and Hand Fund. Women who volunteer thousands of hours of community service in our hometowns and on campuses all across America.
